Principal's Message

I acknowledge, with deep respect, the traditional custodians of this land, the mumirimina people and pay my respects to Elders past and present, to the Aboriginal people with us today and to the Tasmanian Aboriginal community who continue to care for Country. I stand for a future that profoundly respects and acknowledges Aboriginal perspectives, culture, language and history.
Our School Values
Our Commitment: In partnership with community, we provide a welcoming school of choice that inspires and supports all learners to succeed as connected, creative and curious thinkers.
Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term 3. We hope all our families had the opportunity to enjoy some precious time together over the break, and feeling recharged for the exciting 10 weeks ahead. As we step into this new term, we look forward to continuing our partnership in learning and supporting every student to thrive.
I would like to thank Lauren Clements for doing an amazing job stepping into the principal role in my absence. I am very excited to be back at work, and I look forward to seeing how our students have grown (academically and physically!!) over the term.
NAPLAN
We’re thrilled to share that our 2025 NAPLAN data shows significant improvement, especially in reading—one of our key priorities. Not only have we seen growth in reading, but it’s been incredibly rewarding to see positive shifts across other areas too. We look forward to sharing these results with you soon!
Winter Fest
Pop Thursday 21 August in the calendar. Winter Fest is back for another year. Food vans, silent disco and lots more already booked in and ready to go.
Website
Our website has been updated with fresh content and new features to better support our school community. You’ll find the latest news, key dates, and helpful resources all in one place. We invite you to explore and stay connected with everything happening at Sorell School.
